Customer Reviews

This is probably the best album to come out so far this year. If you are looking for a band that is unique and is very talented, then buy "Hello Echo". All the tracks are great; there are no low points. My favorites are "Don't Make No Sense", "Stay", "Beautiful Disease", and "Love Goes Along Way". If you love it like you should, then get their first album, too. See them live as well because they sound just as good if not better live. Mainstream music needs a band like this, so support these guys; I know you won't be dissapointed. Unless you like bad music.

Better than the first cd by leaps and bounds (and that says a lot)

I've never pegged maxeen as one of my favorite bands, and i first got into them after seeing their live show (the singer looks and sounds and plays an awful lot like sting....hell, the whole band sounds just like early Police) And I got their first album was was really great. I played out songs like "Please" and "Take the Weight Off". On the second album, I expected more of the same...and what i got was a lot more growth. You can hear a lot of U2 influences in the guitar, and of course the Police are still in there too. It's a much more mature effort. Some songs fail, like "Hurry Up and Wait" and "Don't Make No Sense", but in my opinion, the best songs on the album exceed high marks. ("Loud as War", "Let Go" and "Replace Us"-a straight zone out track that i've been playing 5x in a row per listen...its just that good) Bottom line. Listen to the tracks listed on purevolume. If you like what you hear, the rest of the cd will make you happy. Rock out.

Nothing Short of Amazing

In my (worthless) opinion, easily the best (frickin) album of the year. These guys are a breath of fresh air in today's (crappy) music industry. Yeah, they sound (a lot) like The Police, but we all know there's been nothing new since Rock 'n' Roll. Just buy it.

Formed: 2002 in Long Beach, CA

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '00s

The stylized pop/rock of Maxeen draws heavily from the sounds of the '80s, most notably the Police and Pixies. The trio came together in mid-2002 in Los Angeles when singer/bassist Tom Bailey (who had mostly grown up in Akron, OH) returned to California, his state of birth. Once there, he crossed paths with guitarist Shannon McMurray and drummer Jay Skowronek, who had met earlier through a musician wanted ad. McMurray was a SoCal native spending his days as an elementary school teacher, while East...
