A Fresh Take on the best of the Old and the New

If you’re looking to grove on a new sound, this is it. Difficult to categorize—in fact it seems to defy labeling—Gardner’s sound and subject delights. Think of Sufjan Stevens and Sam Elliot on the one hand and Alt-J and Django Django on the other—somewhere in between Gardner has made his own space and invites you in. You’ll not only be glad you visited, you’ll be tempted to move in.


I love the melody and the robotic singing. They really mix together well.


A touch of Raveonettes with the melodic insistence of Russian Futurists…a great find.

Though he was born in the Netherlands in 1989, Jacco Gardner sounds as if he were alive in 1967 -- soaking in all the baroque pop and toytown psych that were taking over pop music at the time. Inspired by groups like the Zombies and the Left Banke, the multi-instrumentalist released his first single ("Clear the Air"/"A House on the Moon") in 2012 for the Spanish label Action Weekend, then appeared with the neo-psych group Bombay Show Pig on the one-sided single "Get Lost in the Shuffle" for the Dutch...
