iTunes Review

“They say ‘Don’t take your business to the big time’; I bought us tickets there,” sing The Avett Brothers on “Slight Figure of Speech,” summing up their major label debut. With producer Rick Rubin, they streamlined and polished the rootsy, harmony-laden sound they’d developed over previous albums. There’s gravity to these chamber-folk ballads, from the majestic piano-based arrangements to the hard-won lyrical wisdom. And they prove they still know how to get a bluegrass hoedown started on the rollicking “Laundry Room.”

Nice

I really like this album more than their newer one, I like the other one but the instrumental style on this one seems more effort full and emotional

it doesn't get much better than this

I absolutely love The Avett Brothers. Their meaningful lyrics combined with their angelic voices touch my heart so deeply and it truly amazes me how they have been able to make bluegrass sound so modern! I could listen to them all day. Actually, I have! haha If you haven't listened to them yet, you are truly missing out. Click "buy album". I promise you won't regret it (:

Formed: 2000 in Concord, NC

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '00s, '10s

Although siblings Scott (vocals, banjo) and Seth (vocals, guitar) began making music together as children, their group's genesis began when they were members of Nemo, a rock band that gigged regularly in Greenville, North Carolina.
