iTunes Editors’ Notes

Coming out of Brooklyn, Masta Ace has been serving up top-quality hip-hop since the late '80s, when he debuted alongside The Juice Crew on the much-loved posse-cut classic "The Symphony." While most of that era's emcees have faded into obscurity, Ace has continued to quietly drop excellent albums every few years. Where many rappers record a few singles and a gang of filler, Ace does the opposite; his last several projects (Disposable Arts, A Long Hot Summer, The Show) were straight-up concept albums that told detailed stories from start to finish. That trend continues with MA_Doom, as he drops 16 autobiographical tracks that flash back to his youth ("Nineteen Seventy Something"), being a fan of old-school heroes ("Fresh Fest"), and touring cross-country ("Home Sweet Home"). Every joint is produced by MF DOOM, who revisits instrumentals previously rocked by Monsta Island Czars, King Gheedorah, Kurious, and the Special Herbs beat tapes. It's a great album from two certified legends.

Masta Ace makes another CLASSIC!!!

Honestly, I'm a big fan of all of Masta Ace's projects. I wore Slaughterhouse out on cassette so I was a fan from very early on!!! All I can say is this latest project with MF DOOM just proves Masta Ace has always been about the culture and making great music! So, enjoy this album and listen to one of the best to ever do it!!! Hip-Hop concept albums will never be done better than Masta Ace because the music is DOPE and the story is always on point!!! From the INC to EMC to Ed OG to now, each album proves he makes classic and timeless material. Do your homework and cop all the albums (especially Sittin' on Chrome, Disposable Arts & A Long Hot Summer) and you will see why I took the time to write this review! Truly one of Brooklyn's finest!!!

It's good to hear one of my favorite MCs rapping on one of my favorite MC/Producers beats. Worth picking up if your a fan of Ace or DOOM

Man I wanna buy this!

I'm honestly NOT the biggest Doom fan, sometimes feelin like his records are too much of a chore to listen to, if that makes sense... but this record is super easy listenin', with smooth grooves and it's like this is a match made in heaven as Ace's lyrics just perfectly flow over the tracks. BRILLIANT record by some serious OG's. I am buyin once I get paid for sure!

Born: December 4, 1966 in Brooklyn, NY

Genre: Hip-Hop/Rap

Years Active: '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s

With an impressive resume in rap that includes membership in the legendary Juice Crew (along with Marley Marl, MC Shan, Big Daddy Kane, Biz Markie, Roxanne Shante, and Craig G) and a verse on the 1988 classic posse cut "The Symphony," Brooklyn's Masta Ace is truly an underappreciated rap veteran and underground luminary. Two years after "The Symphony," Ace released his debut album Take a Look Around on rap's version of the Motown label, Cold Chillin' Records. While not a huge commercial success the...
