13 Songs, 46 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

With each progressive sun-drenched songwriting session, Colbie Caillat further masters the California coffeehouse sound that’s her birthright. And though she’s penned many singles about falling headlong into giddy infatuation, several songs on Caillat's third studio release, All of You, elevate her understanding of romance to more mature plateaus — including “Shadow,” “I Do,” and “Brighter Than the Sun,” which tells the story about a personal relationship. The album was produced and mastered specifically for iTunes to optimize sound quality.

YAY!

I think this is the first time I could ever be first! So yay! I love this album! To this day, Coco remains one of my most favorite albums and Breakthrough is just as beautiful. Colbie never ceases to amaze me, even with this album. I've listened to it on Myspace and have been so excited for its release!

Favorites?

Brighter Than the Sun, What Means the Most, Think Good Thoughts, Like Yesterday, Before I Let You Go, Favorite Song....wow. Am I just listing this entire album? Whatever. Although nothing could probably ever top Coco out of her albums, this one could give it a run for its money!

Such an awesome compilation!

PLEASE BUY THE ALBUM SO COLBIE CAN HIT #1!

Brighter than The Sun...but I miss the laid back vocals

One of the things that made CoCo and Breakthrough such appealing albums is the unique way Colbie Caillat sang… that smooth dusky alto caressing each note, holding on like a hug the singer was reluctant to break. The sunny reggae/island feel each song had made you feel like you were on the beach. I remember playing CoCo for a friend of mine and he said. "Wow she's great, does she ever raise her voice?" That was it in a nutshell, Colbie's songs were like pillow talk; sexy and intimate…cool out music.

On All of You Colbie is showing a different side to her vocal talents. Most of the songs are uptempo and some even have a rock and roll edge to them. Except for Make it Rain and brief moments at the beginnings of What if, All of You, and What Means the Most, there is very little of the laid back CoCo vocals. As usual the songs are all very well written, and the playing is top notch. Ten of the Album's 14 songs (my pre-ordered version includes her cover of Blondie's Maria) feature Caillat belting out a more rapid fire singing style that uses a lot of upper register. The results are pleasant (How could they not be, I mean it's Colbie after all), but I miss the pillow talk.

Standouts are Brigher than the Sun <---simply perfect, I Do <---Very Sweet, The Reggae feel on Think Good Thoughts<---flawless…not a bad song on the album. Get It!
