Album Review

Hank Williams III's debut album Risin' Outlaw presents 13 tracks that show Williams' affection for authentic, rough around the edges country. From the catchy, driving album opener "I Don't Know" to his honky tonk vocals on "You're the Reason," Hank III blends his famous heritage with his own musical outlook. Ballads like "Lonesome for You" and up-tempo tracks like "If the Shoe Fits" show off Williams' ability to be purely country as well as original.

Customer Reviews

The only true outlaw of the modern day time.

This man no matter what kind of album he has put out has been just outstanding. From the first song all the way to the very last of every album is very enjoyable. He is much like his grandfather in the sound of his voice, but make no mistake he is his own man, as like most of the Hank's, they all have their own style. I personally enjoy all the Hank's, but since Hank III's arrivival he has topped them all in my book.

Hank III The beginning to his outlaw ways

I owned Lovesick Broke and Driftin and Straight to Hell before Risin Outlaw and you can see how his music got a little more free every time. Hank III is in full swing right now givin Right wing corporate types the middle finger. If ya like Hank you'll like this one

The Best Hank

Pure, soulful, genuine country with an edge that exists typically only in Texas country these days. Has the voice of Hank, more attitude than Hank Jr. and the balls to challenge "pop country". I don't think he will be hitting the stage of the Opry anytime soon....thankfully! This is earlier release that is not quite as "explicit" as his newest release, but none the less beats 99.9% of the country out there. Buy it.

As the grandson of Hank Williams and the son of Hank Jr., Hank Williams III was country music royalty before he ever sang a note. But he didn't immediately follow his forebears musically, choosing instead to bang around the Southeast, playing drums in punk and hardcore combos and smoking prodigious amounts of weed before he began pursuing a career in country music. It was the outlaw spirit of his lineage, alive and unwell and floating in the bong water, and he earned a reputation as one of Nashville's...
