One of the greatest live albums of all time!

My favorite Richard Thompson album, It is a full concert with encores and is recorded and mixed very well so the acoustics are excellent. The band is Richard's classic lineup with Pete Zorn, Dave Mattacks and the superb Danny Thompson on bass. On top of it all is Richard Thompson at the peak of his career giving an performance of many of his greatest songs that is near perfection. Oh yes, the in-between song patter is a great example of Richard's keen sense of humor and chemistry with the audience. I couldn't have asked for a better addition to iTunes. If you could only have one Richard Thompson album showing all his songwriting, singing and guitar playing talents from acoustic ballads to insane rockers this is it. Epic guitar moment is The Way That it Shows.

This is the best peak RT live album of his career

IF you are a fan of RT's Capital Records years, this album catches him at his sharpest touring for his "Mirror Blue" album. It's a great combination of the acoustic and electric strengths of Thompson at (what I think) was the peak of his technical skills. I was lucky enough to see this tour and I think one of the shows he did in Birmingham,AL at the 5 Points Music Hall is the source of several of the cuts selected for the live album.

WARNING - songs are mis-labeled in iTunes

I was just looking for Beeswing and a quick iTunes search yielded three possible options. I clicked on the recording included on "Two Letters Live" and was instead treated to a very nice sample of another Richard Thompson song, Dimming of the Day. Clicking on the entry for Dimming, I get instead a sample of Back Street Slide. I love this album, which I used to have on CD, but I wish somebody would go in and fix the tune information.

For years, Richard Thompson resided in relative obscurity, while at the same time garnering vast critical praise for his magnificent guitar work and the dark wit and richness of his extraordinary songwriting. A founding member of the seminal British folk-rock group Fairport Convention, he remained with the band for five studio albums — Fairport Convention (1968), What We Did on Our Holiday (released as Fairport Convention in the U.S.) (1968), Unhalfbricking (1969), Liege and Lief (1969), and...
