Album Review

20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection: The Best of Gino Vanelli collects a dozen of his soft rock and pop hits from the late '70s and early '80s, including "People Gotta Move," "I Just Wanna Stop," "Living Inside Myself," and "Powerful People." The compilation does a good job of presenting the different sides to Vanelli's sound, from the slick, slightly jazzy sound of his biggest hits to soft, romantic ballads like "Wheels of Life" to the somewhat awkward funk edge on tracks such as "Appaloosa" and "Mama Coco." Overall, this collection provides a more complete look at Vanelli's output from this era than The Best of Gino Vanelli, though it's not quite as comprehensive as The Ultimate Collection, which also includes some fun singles from a few years later, like "Black Cars." Still, if it's just the soft rock hits that you're after, 20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection: The Best of Gino Vanelli gets the job done.

I Don't Get It

If you're wondering what it is I don't get my friends, then allow me to enlighten you. This is a pretty fair buy, but it doesn't have my favorite Gino Vannelli song on it, which I'm sure is also his biggest hit, which is "Living Inside Myself". The curious thing is all the other hits that should be here, are here except the song in question. What's more mind boggling which may anger you some, so be prepared is that for your info I own this particular album already on CD & the song I am talking about is ON the 20th Century Masters: The Millennium Collection: The Best of Gino Vannelli cd, so why in God's name is it not on here on the "iTunes" version? Why would iTunes choose to omit that one song here on iTunes, when I already just told you that "Living Inside Myself" IS on the CD version of THIS SAME ALBUM! What is up with that? Hmmm...what would thier reasons be? Lack of space? Yeah right. Real Gino Vannelli fans I trust will NOT! be amused by the little tidbit I just provided you. This cd doesn't lack all the other major hits, which ofcourse makes one realize the omission of this song is on purpose, for whatever reasons and I have no clue what those reasons are, unless someone wants to enlighten ME, one of these days. Nevertheless this cd gets only 3 stars for this stupidity that goes on across all of iTunes unexplained. Talk about not getting your dollars worth, but then again It's your choice I guess whether to bother buying this knowing what you now know. Good Luck.

Living Inside Myself

My sentiments exactly. "Living Inside Myself" is my favorite Gino Vannelli song and it is frustrating that ITunes does not have it.

Why not Living Inside Myself??????

Please get this song on iTunes!!!! It's his best.

Vannelli learned to play the drums early in life and studied music theory at McGill University. He formed an R&B band with two brothers, but later began recording solo material for RCA in 1970.
