Another great release from this dynamic band

Preordered this release and after listening for a few days I have nothing but good things to say for this album. It's not as "song-based" as their last two releases. Rather, the tracks flow together very nicely into one cohesive piece. The sound is more reminiscent of their 1990's albums. If you're new to the band I think you might be better off starting off with Special Wishes or ...Life. As a fan I like all their stuff and this one doesn't disappoint.

A small turn..

This album is absolutely crushing. Its guitars are crushing, its bass is crushing, its drums are crushing, and its lyrics are crushing. You can't help but be sucked in by the emotional weight of this album. There are uplifting moments, only musically of course, the lyrics tell a story of a man going farther and farther down a path of despair. One of the most affecting albums i've heard. This album is in the running for album of the year 2010 so far. "I know this is all my fault" remains one of the hardest hitting emotional punches i have ever been dealt.

Who you talkin' about, Willis? I think "he" is even better than Leonard Skinnard.
The album is good, and definitely Milk-ish.
I LOVE the final 2 songs. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them.

Harvey Milk records require you to actually listen. To take time to get inside what they are trying to do.
You have to allow time to slow down and experience the record.
Not many bands like that anymore.

The trio formed in the early '90s with a lineup of Creston Spiers (guitar/vocals), Stephen Tanner (bass), and Paul Trudeau (drums). They released their first album, My Love Is Higher Than Your Assessment of What My Love Could Be, on the tiny North Carolina-based...
