iTunes Editors’ Notes

This is her first posthumous album, but Whitney Houston left behind such an amazing body of work that it likely won’t be the last. In her lifetime, she recorded more than 40 chart-toppers. Yet I Will Always Love You—The Best of Whitney Houston is much more than the singer's greatest-hits collection; it's a celebration of her music. It appropriately opens with “You Give Good Love,” the buttery-smooth lead single from her 1985 eponymous debut album. The neon-bright “How Will I Know,” the slightly funky “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me),” the sultry “So Emotional," and the moving “I Have Nothing” were all given deep remasters here, making for extra-fresh fidelity. Other gems include her dazzling covers of George Benson’s “Greatest Love of All,” Chaka Khan's "I'm Every Woman," and, of course, the Dolly Parton–penned title track. But the real treats here are a version of “I Look to You” re-recorded as a duet with R. Kelly and the previously unreleased R&B jam “Never Give Up.”

Missing Essentials

Overall this is a very good collection and fans will appreciate the tribute as well as the new version of "I Look To You" and the previously unreleased track "Never Give Up", but this collection is missing some essential tracks. Inclusion of "It's Not Right, But It's Okay" (one of her biggest hit singles), "One Moment In Time", and "Million Dollar Bill" would have made this batch of songs a more retrospective collection. "Try It On My Own" would have also been a nice addition considering it was an A/C top ten hit as well as a #1 hit on the dance charts. Any "best-of" Whitney Houston release really deserves to be a 2-disc set in my opinion.

18 songs are NOT ENOUGH.

I rate 5 stars only because it's Whitney, but I'm glad I own all of her albums. There's no way 18 songs can capture the depth and magnitude of this woman's voice. It's disappointing that the Star Spangled Banner and One Moment in Time are not even on here… for shame!!! Again, I'm glad I already own all of her albums.

Whitney #1

Great songs ! Wish they made a live album. Whitey at her best was live

Whitney Houston was inarguably one of the biggest female pop stars of all time. Her accomplishments as a hitmaker were extraordinary; just to scratch the surface, she became the first artist ever to have seven consecutive singles hit number one, and her 1993 Dolly Parton cover "I Will Always Love You" became nothing less than the biggest hit single in rock history. Houston was able to handle big adult contemporary ballads, effervescent, stylish dance-pop, and slick urban contemporary soul with equal...
