Best Rendition out there!

My daughter got a chance to see a broadway production of the show a couple of months ago and loved it. Tonight we picked up the soundtrack from the MOVIE version - starring Peter O'Toole and Sophia Loren. As we're driving home, listening to it, I'm thinking, somethings not right! Musically, this just isn't as good as I remember it to be! Well I figured out that it's because I grew up listening to this original BROADWAY version - and IT IS musically superior! O'Toole and Loren may be great actors/actress.... but if you're a music snob (I guess I must be) then you want to get this Broadway version!

Man of La Mancha

This older version of Man of La Mancha is my personal favorite. Richard Kiley is Don Quixote! And I love Irving Jacobson as Sancho Panza. His voice depicts his humour, yet is so kind. Joan Diener as "Aldonza" is worth the entire album. She masters the lyrics and the nuances needed to portray the varying range of emotions contained within that one song. And I have the tears to prove it! Don Quixote is of course a classical figure. I hope that this musical is never forgotten.

Religious Experience

Having seen this musical live several times and having known the music, it's nearly a religious experience listening to it. It inspires one to be positive and to see the good in other people, even in the face of adversity.

Her effective singing style and attractive physical appearance marked her out for future popularity although only twice would she find roles in box-office hits. She was married to Albert Marre, and their first collaboration as director and star came when she appeared...
