Is it just me...

Or do artists today seem more and more like they just want to end up on a Zach Branff soundtrack? If so, this album hits the mark. The overall sound is nothing new - organic, gritty, subtle vocals with a college student angst. Not to sound cliche, but if Zach passes on these guys I am sure they'll appear in the next VW commercial. They do however have well written lyrics, catchy vibes and an addictive sound. While I would not consider them "alternative," I would certainly call Seabear "Folk 2.0." Seabear pairs well with a soy latte, an overstuffed pappasan chair and a philosophy textbook. Oh yeah...and some angst.

if you like one or two of their songs just by listening to the samples i urge you to please STOP and just buy the whole album ...either on i-tunes or walmart or target or even one of the local starbucks in town. (there's like twenty on my block) this cd was put together so perfectly and it would be a shame if it wasn't listened in the order that it was originally put in. the whole cd gives off this quirky and happy-go-lucky vibe ---kind of like when you have a crush on someone blast it in the car with the windows down ...and sing away like nobody can hear you

Very different, and worth every penny

I have never bothered to write a review on itunes before, but after purchasing this album, I felt compelled to do so. Just about every song on this album is beautiful, different, and lushly orchestrated. I'm a classical musician, so I'm often repelled by the commercial, poppy music floating around the mainstream media. I have a hard time finding music that I really like, but Seabear is a real gem and I hope more people will support this album. Worthy every penny.

Although initially the solo project of Sindri Már Sigfússon, Seabear had morphed into a seven-piece band by 2007, when the group made its full-length debut with Ghost That Carried Us Away. Sigfússon filled his lineup with a number of fellow Icelandic songwriters -- Gudbjörg Hlin Gudmundsdottir, Ingibjörg Birgisdóttir, Halldór Ragnarsson, Örn Ingi Ágústsson, Kjartan Bragi Bjarnason, and Sóley Stefánsdóttir -- and the group’s hushed, folksy music began finding an international audience in 2008, when...
