At Night, Alone. Mike Posner
EDITORS’ NOTES
The singer/songwriter charms us with humility (and a bit of pride) as he contemplates fame's ego-driven consequences over introspective pop ballads. Posner's a dynamic storyteller, whether he's name-checking Avicii or Bieber (the country-leaning "I Took a Pill in Ibiza" and "One Hell of a Song") or simply paying respects to his mother (whose advice informs "Be as You Are"). But he's mostly looking inward, going a cappella on "Only God Knows" and employing twinkling piano and slithering strings to intensify his self-reflection, which, in the end, brings him humbly back home to Detroit.
