Album Review

Following their successful live album, Floetry returned to the studio after some much needed rest from constant touring and album-making. Relaxed and very much reenergized, Floetry then issued Flo'Ology, which rises to the top of the list as one of the best things the group has ever released. The blueprint pretty much stays the same: tasteful, funky neo-soul grooves blended with emotive R&B crooning and spoken word poetry. But there's a much-needed sense of refinement to their style and vocal delivery this time around, a hint of maturity that was lost on their debut and subsequent releases. The ferocity that made Floetic the album of the neo-soul jet set has been replaced by a calmer, more introspective duo confident of their abilities and — most importantly — understanding when to restrain themselves from becoming just another cookie-cutter R&B group (check out "Lay Down" for the best example of this discipline). The one thing detracting from Flo'Ology is the length of the songs, with many of them bordering on or exceeding the five-minute mark; combined with the repetition of themes, this length tends to drag down and unnecessarily carry songs on longer than they should, but that's a trivial complaint considering all of the fine-tuning, general improvement, and overall quality boost that Flo'Ology delivers from start to finish.

A work of art!!!!!

This album is the latest work by Floetry and like the others this album is on FIRE!! The music, vocals, lyrics are GREAT!! and that's coming from a consumers, and producers point of view. Keep up the good work ladies.

Never Disappointed

I have never been disappointed buying anything Floetry-related, Flo'Ology is no exception. Flo'Ology's laid back beats and smooth vocals make it easy to pop into your CD player and listen to it all day. Things that make this album stand out to me is its amazing production value, and sliky presence, every track has a crisp quality that pops in your ears. The only problem I could find with Flo'Ology is its short list of tracks but overall is 100% worth every dime.

Yeah Let's Lay Down.

Wow, talk about a smash single, Lay Down should be the next single to be released by Floetry. I got it Tuesday morning Midnight and by 3am the play count on it was at is such a smooth laid back track, I love the lyrics.....Then when you want to get up and dance the next track to play to death is SupaStar with Common but the rest of the CD may have to grow on me......either way it is worth it to buy those two singles.

Marsha Ambrosius and Natalie Stewart are the funky divas behind the neo-soul duo Floetry. Ambrosius and Stewart emerged in the mid-'90s as songwriters in demand. They're behind some of the new millennium's biggest hits, too. The pair has written tracks for Michael Jackson, Jill Scott, Glenn Lewis, and Bilal. While they're highly respected behind the scenes, Floetry is their way of moving up front. Ambrosius is the songstress to Stewart's spoken word impresario or "floacist" role. The two met due...
