Album Review

The sequel to the 2012 action-adventure film Snow White and the Huntsman, The Huntsman: Winter's War returns composer James Newton Howard to the studio for more pulsating symphonic fare. Percussive brass and strings join tribal drums in several pressing passages, such as "Freya's Spell" and "Goblin King." Contrasting quieter tracks provide temporary respite from action: "You're Carrying His Child" features tender instrumental solos from across orchestra sections, though eerie tension defines the score's baseline atmosphere. The song "Castle," by Halsey, which she re-recorded for the film, is also included here.

Howard Does it again

I have to say James Newton Howard has done it again. His music never disappoints and has me hooked beginning to end. Cannot wait to see the movie. ❤️

Another Masterful Score

Keeping in mind that I have not yet seen the film, I can say this music does stand purely on its own. As a soundtrack critic and junkie, I can say that James Newton Howard has truly crafted a masterful, dark, and fantastical score. This music beautiful, haunting, heroic, and emotive--capitalizing on each of these elements. James Newton Howard is, by far, my favorite soundtrack composer and he does not disappoint in his newest work. After hearing a dark score such as this one, his soundtrack hypes me up for what he has in store for "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them." I definitely recommend this soundtrack.

Songs are awesome and the movie is to
