Jamie Adenuga established himself as a skilful MC and producer on this debut album. Simplicity is the motif as he and other producers including Wiley build spare beats around blade-sharp hooks, while his clipped, exact rapping avoids monotony by constantly switching moods. “Awoh”’s witty self-celebration gives way to world-weariness on the hater dismissing “Show”, while the proud independence of “Go On My Own” is countered by the title track’s hints of loneliness. Simple but effective.
