iTunes Editors’ Notes

Of all the Tempts' albums, With A Lot Of Soul is, as the title boasts, the most soulful. The songs are as tough as anything Motown would allow, and lead singer David Ruffin is given free reign to sandblast the lyrics with everything he's got. He even interrupts Eddie Kendrick's sickly-sweet lead on "You're My Everything" with a devastating turn at the mic that rips to the very heart of the song. Paul Williams brings his own brand of hurt to "No More Water In The Well," and even "secret-sauce" singer Otis Williams gets a rare shot at the spotlight on the doo-wop throwback "Don't Send Me Away." But make no mistake: This album is a showcase for David Ruffin, a man who could sing heartbreak with a clawing agony that is unmatched to this day.

The Worlds Greatest Singing Group, "The Temptations"

Absolutely the best harmony, and precision singing of it's time and still carrying on. All other singing groups, besides Smokey Robinson and The Miracles have followed in there foot steps and patterned themselves after them. The Tempts still do it for me. What other all male singing group has weathered the storm. Although all the original singers are not with them now, the name Temptations goes on and on and on. Go tempts!

tempts with a whole lot of soul

This group is one of the greatest that has ever been assemble. There will probally never be another one like them.Every song on this album is worth listening to, and today thats unusual.

Temptations Forever!

Awesome album and an awesome group!, I'm 26 years old but I'm a young man with an old soul and I know good music when I hear it, dont matter if it came out in 1967 or 2007 good music is good music! Oh and one more thing, for all you Otis haters sayin he can't sing check him out on the last track "Dont Send Me Away" he can sing but not as strong as David, Eddie and Paul maybe even Melvin but they're all excellent singers. Thumbs up to the Tempts!

Thanks to their fine-tuned choreography — and even finer harmonies — the Temptations became the definitive male vocal group of the 1960s; one of Motown's most elastic acts, they tackled both lush pop and politically charged funk with equal flair, and weathered a steady stream of changes in personnel and consumer tastes with rare dignity and grace. The Temptations' initial five-man lineup formed in Detroit in 1961 as a merger of two local vocal groups, the Primes and the Distants. Baritone...
