This album, probably the pioneer of the new age sound, is one of his best ever. It is so relaxing and beautiful and great for its age. Creation du Monde was used extensively in the Cosmos series among other Vangelis songs (the late Dr. Carl Sagan knew what he was doing). Vangelis is a genius. Learning all by himself and not reading music, he came to understand it real well....a very smart person. How many of the electronic artists have survived for so many years. When others were just playing around with sound in the early 70s and recording albums that mostly resembled a druggie trip, Vangelis was already producing top music notch music from his analog synths. As technology advanced, so did he. He mastered every electronic keyboard, sampler, piano, drum, etc he had programmed and played. Only two of his recordings were mediocre or lower than his standards, more like experimentation rather than music...Invisible Connections and Beaubourg. While only those were the oddballs, the rest have been great pieces of music. Very few artists sounded this good back then as he did and I can count them in one hand. Today, Vangelis is more into the classical side but still sounding great, playing all of the instruments himself. Although looking like he gained much weight over the past few years, let's hope that he continues to stay healthy and goes on to produce more great and memorable music for many years to come. Thank you!

Wonder Painted for the Ear

L'Apocalypse Des Animaux is an earlier work for Vangelis, is fairly amazing, and shows the depth of his artistry in a 1973 that was dealing with Vietnam, Nixon, and limited imagination with sound. Vangelis paints soundscapes here that have become trademark throughout his long career. Out of the 7 Tracks, my four favorites make up over 27 minutes of this gem. (La Mort du loup, La petite fille de la mer, Le singe bleu, and Creation du Monde) As with most of his work, surround yourself with the speakers in a quiet enviornment, and allow the landscape to change...

This is one of the best albums out of Vangelis' studio. This composer is a genius, and understands how to take your out of this physical world, and into another. The music taps into a very deep intellectual place. The third track, "Le Singe Bleu", is one you will not want to end. You will never forget it.
