iTunes Review

Though it is usually overshadowed by the albums that came before and after it —Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers and Damn the TorpedoesYou’re Gonna Get It is actually the tightest and most clever record of the band’s early years. The album didn’t give birth to a single as monumental as “American Girl” or “Refugee,” but “When the Time Comes,” “Too Much Ain’t Enough” and “I Need to Know” are sharper than whip cracks. The album perfectly summarizes the band’s duel appeal: They had the attitude and pedigree of Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, but with the brisk, clean songwriting of new-wave rockers like Elvis Costello and Joe Jackson. Even better, this album revives the jangly sweetness of the Beatles and the Byrds. The chiming chords and heavenly melodies of “Hurt,” “Magnolia” and “Listen to Her Heart” confirm You’re Gonna Get It as one of the most underrated power-pop records of the ‘70s.

The second album for Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers

This album is probably often overlooked, but is none the less a great showcase of how talented they are even since the beginning. There are hits which alot of Petty fans probably know such as "I Need To Know" and "Listen To Her Heart" but there is one song on here which I have always loved which gets little recognition. That song is "No Second Thoughts." It is one of my favorite Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers songs which gets over shadowed because they have so many other massive hits. This is a great album from the best rock band ever so definitely check it out!

Killer Rock 'n' Roll

Tom Petty is cool because he has always done his own thing; that is, he makes songs that last.

My Favorite

Im a huge heartbreakers fan ,and this is my favorite album by them. "I Need To Know" and "Listen to Her Heart" are the popular songs, but i love "When the Time Comes" the title track, and "Restless"..a great album.

Since 1976, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers have been one of America's finest rock & roll bands ever, combining the ringing guitars of the Byrds with the gritty rhythmic drive of the Rolling Stones. Petty's tales of American losers and dreamers were simple and direct, but emotionally charged. The Heartbreakers were a lean, tight band that could handle hard rock & roll and melodic pop equally well. The group gained critical attention and solid sales with their first album, but 1979's Damn...
