Album Review

Jessico, Babasónicos' previous album, had it all: critical acclaim and mainstream notoriety. And Infame is certainly a great successor. In this album, Babasónicos sounds simpler and more accessible than ever, and this is not a weakness. Lyrics and arrangements have been sharpened and polished, without losing a bit of the band's magic. In other words, this material doesn't show the band's sound evolving, but being perfected. The album gets off to a rollicking start with the winning "Infames" and never stops. They have a subtle and natural grace, mixing glam, stylized pop, bolero, ballads, dance, rock, proto-metal, romantic Latin songs, and whatever else might come around. One great song after another and well-crafted melodies offer long-term replayability. An album like that only appears from time to time. So let's just say it: this is a masterpiece. ~ Iván Adaime, Rovi
