iTunes Editors’ Notes

It’s unclear whether Inni is Sigur Ros’ farewell statement or just a marker along a still-unfolding journey. In either case, this double-disc package (released with a DVD) sums up much of what has made this Icelandic quartet’s music so uniquely compelling. Sigur Ros has always been an elusive hybrid, with chamber-pop, prog-rock, and New Age elements discernable in its work. Here, the band doesn’t resolve contradictions so much as make the case for itself with dignity and passion. In this concert setting, the songs unfold as grand compositions, riding arcs of shifting tempos and letting textures clash and blend. From the otherworldly howls of “Svefn-G-Englar” through the stately meditative tones of “Luppulagid,” the band surrounds the listener with panoramic soundscapes of strange beauty. In this barer-bones setting, Sigur Ros’ sometimes-obscured pop instincts come through, especially on tracks like “Via Spilum Endalaust.” Whatever the future holds, Sigur Ros has honored its recording legacy with this magisterial live release.

Absolutely glorious...

Sigur Ros is hands down, one of the most creative and one of a kind bands to ever take the stage. Whether you need some music to help you get a good nights rest or bring on a mountain top feeling of joy, Sigur Ros has it for you. This live album is a prime example of the absolutely terrific quality of music this band brings to the table every time they play. After listening to "Inni", its quite apparent as to why Sigur Ros is the most acclaimed band from Iceland. Cascading melodies and fantastic orchestral instrumentation leave your eyes closed and jaw slightly dropped as you bask in the glory of the music. Jonsi's voice haunts you in your thoughts and dreams in the absolute best way possible. This album is diverse in its offering and can be listened to on almost any mood. Five stars, a must own. Take my word and purchase Inni. You won't regret it.

SIMPLY STUNNING!

This is a huge treat to finally have a live album from Sigur Ros. This is a fantastic live album from a very underrated group. The music is so touching and so beautiful it's something that everyone really needs to experience for themselves. This is one of the greatest live albums I have heard in a very long time. Each and every song sounds so great and each and every track really moves me like only music can.

Named in part after a sister of one of the bandmembers, Reykjavik, Iceland's Sigur Rós (Victory Rose) was formed by guitarist and vocalist Jón Þór Birgisson (who later went by the name Jónsi), bassist Georg Holm, and drummer Ágúst Ævar Gunnarsson. Formed in early 1994 while the members were teenagers, the trio's first recorded song earned them a deal with Iceland's Bad Taste label. Their sprawling debut LP, Von (Hope), was released in 1997, followed the next year by a collection of remixes from that...
