iTunes Review

This album is Mastered for iTunes and includes 14 bonus tracks. By the end of the ’80s, U2 already ranked among the planet’s rock titans. Rather than rest on their laurels, the quartet tapped into throbbing club beats and ambient electronic sounds to create 1991’s Achtung Baby. The band’s spiritually inspired idealism and bracing guitar textures remain. What’s strikingly new here is a groove-driven approach that puts fresh meat on U2’s previously lean sonic bones. Bono is equally adventurous as a lyricist, adding a potent erotic charge to his themes of redemption and unity. “Even Better Than the Real Thing” and “Mysterious Ways” pulse with transcendent passion, while “Trying to Throw Your Arms Around the World” marries salvation with sensuality. From the metal-tinged fire of “Zoo Station” to the smoldering grandeur of “One,” the band creates music both timeless and boldly contemporary. From its first track to the last, Achtung Baby is a risk-taking work that re-defined U2 for the rest of the ’90s.

Its Remastered - Its U2 - Its ACHTUNG BABY

There are few albums in ones life that act as a signpost, when you make a shift from being one person to being another. Achtung Baby is my soundtrack for that moment. From the opening of Zoo Station, when i thought my stereo was broken, to ...Wild Horses (maybe my favorite ever) to the deranged Jesus-complex metallic groove of ...End of the World this album is brilliant from cover to cover......Dont hesitate, just get it, AGAIN!!!!

Best U2 Album

This album changed my life. That my sound a bit dramatic, but it's true. I never truly understood how people could fall in love with music with more ways then it having a "catchy beat" until I heard this album. This album, for me, isn't one of those albums where you pick out three and four and leave the rest; this whole album is incredible. From the "Wrrrr-dr-dr" of "Zoo Station" to the emotional guitar solo of "Love Is Blindness", this album is packed with feelings not as truly expressed in any other U2 album. U2 about to fall apart, The Edge's divorce, the fall of the Berlin Wall, all of these events had an effect on this album, and it affected it for the better. U2 put their soul into this album, and it shows (big thank you to Brian Eno). There's a reason songs like "One", "Until the End Of The World", 'Zoo Station", and "Mysterious Ways" are still played today. This album is timeless.

A comprehensive collection of songs from the era of U2's magnum opus

Achtung Baby turns 20!
After The Joshua Tree, how could U2 top themselves again? Achtung Baby was the answer. It came 4 years later after the band had struggled to find a new sound ffor themsleves. A mixture of Industrial, Indie Rock, Shoegaze, Madchester, and Dance music collided with distorted rock riffs, processed, wailing vocals, funky bass lines, metallic drums, and a new left of center pop/rock sound to form U2's best album. In this new edition, I can definitely hear an improvement in sound from my old CD copy. The bonus tracks are B-sides, some unheard tracks, covers songs done by U2, and a remix or two. All 26 tracks are interesting and worth hearing. If you find yourself really enjoying the album and the bonus tracks, you might want to check out the box sets that U2 have released for Achtung Babys 20th. A fitting reissue for U2's greatest album (so far...). Well worth the purchase.

Through a combination of zealous righteousness and post-punk experimentalism, U2 became one of the most popular rock & roll bands of the '80s. They were rock & roll crusaders during an era of synthesized pop and heavy metal, equally known for their sweeping sound as for their grandiose statements about politics and religion. The Edge provided the group with a signature sound by creating sweeping sonic landscapes with his heavily processed, echoed guitars. Though the Edge's style wasn't conventional,...
