iTunes Review

Ringo Starr's career and catalog seems tailor-made for the kind of set-up provided by VH1 Storytellers. Starr fills the space in between hits with brief anecdotes of his celebrated past. This 1998 session was recorded at around the time of Starr's Vertical Man album and contains tracks such as "King of Broken Hearts" and "La De Da." His backing band here, The Roundheads, are an incredible asset as they bring a tightness and warmth to their renditions of classics like "Don't Pass My By" and Ringo's own "Photograph."

Customer Reviews

Contrary to what some might say, Ringo was an extraordinary drummer. His intricate drum fills gave every song the right touch. Not to mention, he's an all-around nice guy. His unpretentious attitude often defused fights between other members of the Beatles.

great album

this is a nice recording with a few of Ringo's hits missing in action. be that as it may, it's definitly worth the price. Ray Davies on guitar is a nice touch. contrary to other opinions, Ringo was a GREAT drummer. ask any drummer (and i don't mean some kid with a new set of Pearl Exports), and they'll tell you just how great he is.

Well, that's 3 out of 4

Come on iTunes! You have Paul, John and now Ringo. THE FULL BAND OF THE BEATLES WOULD BE NICE!!! IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR????

Ringo Starr, born Richard Starkey, was the drummer in the Beatles from 1962 to 1970 and thus became one of the most famous musicians of the '60s. Though the least prominent member of the quartet, he distinguished himself as an occasional singer of good-natured material and as an actor. Upon the group's split, Starr went solo with two novelty projects: the first, an album called Sentimental Journey, found him covering pre-rock standards, and the second, Beaucoups of Blues, was a country music collection....
