iTunes Review

While many goth bands lean harder on vintage synthesizers than on guitars, The 69 Eyes put the rock back in goth-rock. The multiplatinum Finnish quintet actually calls its music goth ‘n’ roll—and judging by its 10th studio album, this is an apt description. Frontman Jyrki 69’s voice perfectly imitates Bauhaus’ Peter Murphy imitating David Bowie in the opening “Love Runs Away,” a dark and dramatic song with hard-rocking guitars and a catchy chorus. If Glenn Danzig hired Billy Idol’s band for studio accompaniment, there’s a good chance those recordings might sound like “Tonight”—a dark, '80s-styled rocker with a deep, brooding vocal performance. Even when bellowing a ballad, Jyrki 69 somehow makes a serenade sound tougher than coffin nails; the standout single “Red” is as romantic and seductive as it is menacing and intimidating. Similarly, “I Love the Darkness in You” attempts to woo the kind of young women who gravitate to cemeteries and horror movies. Tattoo artist and celebrity Kat Von D guest duets on “Rosary Blue.”

X Gets a 10 in my book!

If you're looking for an authentic goth'n'roll album this is it. I have only heard the previews but I have already preordered this. Don't miss out! This is truly the 69 Eyes at their best. Love Runs Away has got to be the best song they have ever written. The entire album brings out real emotion and these are songs that are the type you can really relate to. The lyrics are perfect because they describe the real emotions we feel as imperfect people. Buy the album, trust me, you won't regret it!

Good ol 69 Eyes back again!

Goth n Roll Hit!!

Every single song is an absolute hit, I can not get enough of each song and the duet with Kat Von D. Let me just say that who knew Kat Von D could sing. This is their best album yet!!

The 69 Eyes, a very dramatic goth metal band, formed in the early '90s in Helsinki. They first went gold in their native Finland with 2000's "Gothic Girl" single, and from then on their popularity increased.
