Customer Reviews

One of L.A.'s best bands

This afternoon, I drew a warm bath of mescaline, milk, and morphine, lowered myself in and soaked for a lifetime or two in Mystery Drug, the latest record from I See Hawks in L.A. (Robert Rex Waller Jr., Paul Lacques, Paul Paul Marshall, Shawn Nourse, with Rick Shea).

It's a dry, desperate, wandering, sun-soaked quest of a record full of loss and longing, hope, hallucination, and humor; and to me it sounds like CALIFORNIA.

I urge you to buy Mystery Drug by nostalgic visionaries, I See Hawks in L.A.

Plus rating

Any Band that gets a plus rating and praise from Dave Alvin deserves your attention. Great homespun feel, lyrics and sound. The "Hawks" honor the emotions of wild places and throw in some tongue in cheek observations on city life to boot. Cool beyond limits.
