Editors’ Notes

Los Lobos are such a great band that even when you take their amplifiers away, they sound like they’re playing near 11. The six-minute version of “The Neighborhood” that opens the band's fourth live album shows Los Lobos' intensity in all situations. This particular gig was at New York City's tasteful City Winery on Dec. 23, 2012, with Los Lobos doing their acoustic thing. For the event, they settle on lesser-known tunes from their vast catalog—though they end the show with a rousing “La Bamba"/"Good Lovin’” medley that they could do in their sleep, but that they refuse to take it for granted. The music simply means too much to these East Los Angeles veterans. They’re putting on a show, and no one can be shortchanged. The rhythms are explosive in the acoustic atmosphere, bringing a different kind of jam band together for “Oh Yeah” and “Chuco’s Cumbia,” with percussionists Bugs Gonzalez and Camilo Quinones taking the spotlight. This is a rare band that's incapable of playing a false note.

Customer Reviews

Best Live Band

A great CD for the serious LL fan. Overall more of a mellow set list than you get a typical energetic live show. Wonderful musicianship and a great sounding recording.

Best CD in years

I'm a huge Los Lobos fan, but I have to admit that the past few studio albums didn't hold up to some of their best. Well, good news, good news!!! This is one of their all time best. Great energy, great musicianship.

Yet another great Los Lobos album

Like most of their albums, the more you listen the more you hear and realize just how good these guys are. You will not be disappointed, something for everyone in this one.

One of the most acclaimed American bands of the 1980s and '90s, Los Lobos were seasoned musical veterans with nearly 15 years of experience under their belts when they scored their first hit in 1987 with a cover of Richie Valens' "La Bamba." Though their time as pop stars was short, the group — who enjoyed calling themselves "just another band from East L.A." — won over critics and a legion of loyal fans with their bracing mixture of rock, blues, Tex-Mex, country, R&B, and Mexican...
