A promising debut CD!

The Stay Human Band is sui generis, and their uniqueness is captured here on their promising debut CD. Social Music deserves a big audience. It is fun and poignant. It is also experimental. It honors musical traditions while searching to establish its own. Band leader Jon Batiste describes his group as a collective. The concept fits his aspiration to make what he calls 'social music.' Drummer Joe Saylor, saxophonist Eddie Barbash, and tuba/trombonist Ibanda Ruhumbika honor their leader's vision with an inviting lyricism, clarity and cohesion. The slow solo tracks capture Batiste at his contemplative best. Barbash's rhythmic and melodic inventiveness is the embodiment of good taste: a fresh, exciting voice, with a unique sound. Saylor's range of expression is without peer--always swinging, never overwhelming. "Express yourself!" a crowd-pleasing track exclaims. That they do. But this is also a group that listens to each other. Their journey is just beginning. They will only get better. A generation from now, listeners will point back to Social Music and say, "This is where it all began. And I was there!"

A MUST buy!! Life changing. The transitions between songs are incredible!!

This album is a look into the future. Jon Batiste and Stay Human have realized a concept of music that can change the world and transform so many people. The transitions between songs are impeccably executed. The album is a work of art! Such beautiful and transformative experience to listen to for all people, no matter what kind of music you like!
