iTunes Review

Bluesman Joe Louis Walker remains true to the music while modernizing the sound without losing its soul. Partial credit here goes to producer Tom Hambridge, who produced Buddy Guy’s GRAMMY®-winning albums Skin Deep and Living Proof and Walker’s previous album, Hellfire. A member of the Blues Hall of Fame, Walker employs a veteran group, with Hambridge on drums, Tommy MacDonald on bass, Rob McNelley on guitar, and Reese Wynans on Hammond B-3 organ and piano. From there, Walker essays dirty-blues guitar solos and sings like a man who treats every performance like it could be his last. At 64, Walker has plenty of road left, and beyond the flat-out blues numbers like the title track, the horn-assisted “All I Wanted to Do,” and the roadhouse fun of “Stick a Fork in Me,” he turns the obscure Rolling Stones tune “Ride On, Baby” into a modest rocker and helps hard rock finds a voice in “Not in Kansas Anymore.” Gospel takes root in “Keep the Faith.”

Can't begin to say how awesome this album is, if you've heard Joe Louis Walkers other Albums then there's nothing short of Excellence on this Album, not only does he offer Blues in this New album, but he and the band do it successfully while exploring the other avenues of music that Joe Louis Walker has always experimented in during his Long running career as a bluesmen it's a Must Own.

Great LP

Really good album. Joe Louis Walker is a serious bluesman. This LP rocks. JLW has a realy cool style. Saw him perform last night. Geart show and his band is top notch.

Positive Evolution!

Joe Louis Walker has always been a raw and gutsy bluesman who gets finer with mileage and time. This album has a bit of something for everyone. In an era where "sophisticated" guitar is treated as a rare and avoidable component of most genres, JLW touches on shades of classic Rolling Stones, Ozzy, and The Boss- BUT with his own blues style. This is one of his finest albums since "In The Morning".

Without a doubt one of the most exciting and innovative artists gracing contemporary blues, guitarist Joe Louis Walker has glowed like a shining blue beacon since the release of his 1986 debut album for HighTone, Cold Is the Night. The disc announced his arrival in stunning fashion, and his subsequent output has only served to further establish Walker as one of the leading younger bluesmen on the scene. Joe Louis Walker is the total package, as tremendously assured on a down-in-the-alley acoustic...
