iTunes Review

The band’s gift for soaring melodies is evident throughout Ghost Stories—particularly on the magnetic first single, “Magic.” Chris Martin’s heart-rending falsetto floats along in a haze of synth-washed ambience (as on the entrancing Kid A–influenced “Midnight”) or sparely accompanied by acoustic instruments (“Oceans,” “O”). Ghost Stories demonstrates the expressive power of understatement.

Crazy Cool and Fun

It's so hypnotic and crazy sounding... I like it...and if you get bored and want to check out another killer artist... Check out "The Busks" on soundcloud or reverbnation... Thank you and have a sexy day!!!

Awesome!

Sure, I miss the old songs with all the acoustics, but this album is still GREAT!!!! Loving it so far and I really hope that I can see them in concert this summer!!!

A sky full of wonderful music!

Almost finished with my first listen to the complete Ghost Stories. Coldplay are amazing as usual. As others have written, there are many echoes here of a man saying goodbye to the love of his life. Chris seems to have genuine regret that they couldn’t make it work. This record could just have easily been called “Love Stories”. This is much simpler, lyric-driven music than the guys have put out before, but I’m hearing great instrumental contributions from everyone, not purely solo work from Chris. I think Coldplay fans will love this one, but Ghost Stories is 180 degrees from a Viva la Vida or X&Y. The big arena anthems just aren’t here. Personally I’m glad they get to evolve and don’t feel like rewriting their earlier material. If by chance you’re not a Coldplay fan, you might want to start with something else. Coldplay fans, download it!

Biography

Formed: 1998 in London, England

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

After surfacing in 2000 with the breakthrough single "Yellow," Coldplay quickly became one of the biggest bands of the new millennium, honing a mix of introspective Brit-pop and anthemic rock that landed the British quartet a near-permanent residence on record charts worldwide. The group's emergence was perfectly timed; Radiohead had just released the overly cerebral Kid A, while Oasis had ditched two founding members and embraced psychedelic experimentation on Standing on the Shoulder of Giants....
