Coming out of East Oakland, Yukmouth is a veteran emcee who's been putting in work for several decades now. A founding member of The Luniz (alongside Numskull), he first hit the scene in the early '90s and scored a tremendous hit single with the 1995 classic smokers' tale "I Got 5 on It." He dropped his first solo record—Thugged Out: The Albulation—in 1998. He has since stayed extremely busy in the studio, releasing new material pretty much every year, appearing in random movies and DVDs, running his own label (Smoke-A-Lot Records), doing various collabos, and repping for crews like Thug Lordz (with fellow Bay Area OGs Spice 1 and C-BO) and The Regime. GAS (Grow and Sale) is at least his ninth official solo joint, and it follows the usual Yukmouth formula: bass-heavy beatwork, green-themed lyricism, and features from a wide variety of Cali legends (Dru Down, B-Legit, Keak Da Sneak) and younger cats (Berner, Lee Majors, Joe Blow) alike.
