EDITORS’ NOTES

There’s a mystical power between every echoing line of All Things Must Pass, the most brilliant solo album from any former Beatle. Often dubbed "The Quiet One” in his iconic quartet, Harrison had a lot to say on this cathartic 1970 solo release, a triple-length opus that crystallizes his profound musical and spiritual journey with radiant songcraft, sky-scraping arrangements, and superb musicianship. Alternatively moving (“My Sweet Lord”), exhilarating (“Wah-Wah”), and meditative (“Isn’t It a Pity”), the soulful genius of Harrison’s masterpiece becomes more radiant with each successive listen.

One of the best albums ever.

George was always pushed to the back of the line when it came to being accorded respect by critics and admittedly, even by George Martin. But if there was ever a way to mute the criticism or open the eyes of those who overlooked George Harrison, All Things Must Pass was quite a statement.

Quite simply, this album is absolutely brilliant.

All Things Must Pass is a sweeping tour de force, showing the world what a great musician, writer and performer George Harrison really was. Of all the individual works by the members of the Beatles following their breakup, no other album was as coherent or consistently good song for song. Combining insight, melancholic songs, biting humor and a variety of styles, I count All Things Must Pass as one of the 10 best albums I’ve ever owned.
