Reseña de álbum

Seizing their extended half-decade hiatus as an opportunity to reinvent themselves, Incubus dive headfirst into a comfortable middle age on their seventh album, If Not Now, When? This is no crisis, this is deliberate: with the assistance of producer Brendan O’Brien, they’ve turned down the guitars and ratcheted up the synthesizers, trading roiling angst for occasional spells of moodiness, deciding to settle into a warm, textured adult pop that occasionally recalls nothing so much as Neil Finn at his spaciest. Incubus aren’t completely ready to become an AAA act — they’re spry enough to sound convincing on the clatter of “Switchblade,” the guitars don’t soothe so much as evoke desolate landscapes, vocalist Brandon Boyd still favors some unsettling lyrical imagery — but the end result is an album on a shaded, comfortable grayscale, music that’s suitably mature yet sidesteps stultifying notions of middlebrow class.

Awesome album that gets better w/ each listen

Great tired of people complaining they wish it was like SCIENCE because if it was it'd be the same people crying they haven't grown as a band!

Boyd did say this would be different...

And he wasn't joking. When I heard Boyd's solo album 'The Wild Trapeze', I knew Incubus was never going to be the same. Boyd's musical direction had radically changed during Incubus' hiatus, and since he's the really the face of Incubus, we all knew this would be way different.
It is.
But I really am in love with this whole album. Its masterfully created; Boyd's vocals have never shined like this before and Mike's guitar amp has never been on a "clean' channel this long before ever. I was prepared for the change and excited about it, and they sure didn't let us down.
This obviously isn't going to be a listening experience comparable to 'Morning View' or 'Light Grenades', but if want to hear that same sound again, go listen to those albums again! Bands mature and change their style, its just part of growing. So all you haters about to start bashing this album, go on and continue to live in the past...I'm gonna stand in the present with Incubus.

I need more rock, kinda disappointed :/

I'm a big incubus fan and that won't change, but I like a healthy mix of songs I can chill to and rock out to. Other than "Adolescents", not many of these songs jam out.
