Haunting, Magical, Reminiscent of Delta Blues

I listened to this because I saw Eszter Balint on "Louie" and was led to critics reviews on the album. Every media outlet of every kind raved about her as if she were the secret to eternal life. So I listened. Didn't even expect to like it. (I'm jaded.) A moment in to Pebbles and Stones I am blown away. I can't believe what I'm hearing. Something about it reminds me of Skip James and Delta blues. It's mournful and joyful and intense and everything else in between. But don't waste time on my words, listen to a few seconds of Pebbles and Stones. And enjoy.

Singer/actress Eszter Balint first emerged as a member of the avant-garde Squat Theater troupe before making a memorable cinematic debut in 1984 in director Jim Jarmusch's seminal indie film Stranger Than Paradise.
