About Laura Lynn
Laura Lynn exploded onto the Belgian music scene in 2005 with her chart-topping debut album, Dromen, and quickly established herself as perhaps the most popular Flemish pop singer of her time in the Dutch-speaking world, leading some to award her the title of Schlagerkoningin (i.e., Schlager Queen). Born Sabrina Tack on June 18, 1976, in Ardooie, a town in the Belgian province of West Flanders, Lynn released her debut single, "Je Hebt Me 1000 Maal Belogen," in 2005 on the ARS Entertainment label. The song became a tremendous hit, charting for a half-year on the Flemish singles chart and ultimately peaking at number two; moreover, the song in turn became a Top 30 hit in the Netherlands as well. Lynn's full-length album debut, Dromen (2005), was released by ARS Entertainment in the wake of "Je Hebt Me 1000 Maal Belogen," and it was an overwhelming chart-topping success in Belgium as well as a Top 30 success in the Netherlands; in fact, the album spent a total of 13 weeks at number one in Belgium and charted for well over a year's time, thanks in part to a CD/DVD reissue with bonus material released during the 2005 holiday shopping season.
The popularity of the album was such that an Afrikaans-language version was recorded and released in South Africa. Besides "Je Hebt Me 1000 Maal Belogen," Dromen features the Top Ten hit "Jij Doet de Wolken Verdwijnen" and the Top 20 hit "Stille Dromen." Lynn's follow-up album, Voor Jou (2006), was another massive success, topping the Flemish albums chart for six weeks and remaining lodged on the chart for nearly a year's time. The album features the number one hit "Jij Bent de Mooiste" and the Top Five hit "Arrivederci Hans." Lynn's third album, Goud van Hier (2007), was yet another chart-topping success, spawning the number one hit "Dans Je de Hele Nacht met Mij" and the Top Ten hit "Hasta la Vista Mañana." For her next album, Duetten (2008), Lynn collaborated with Dutch levenslied singer Frans Bauer for her fourth chart-topping album in a row. The album of duets features the number one hits "Kom Dans met Mij" and "Al Duurt de Nacht Tot Morgenvroeg," the latter of which was also a major hit in The Netherlands, where it peaked at number 21 on the singles chart. ~ Jason Birchmeier
