Real Hip-Hop?: This is the answer.

Popular Hip-Hop/Rap these days is going down. Truly, it is becoming a subcategory of Pop and is a disgrace to the name of Hip-Hop (in general). Really, today's Rap is a mixture of annoying and overused beats and bad grammar. (*cough* Crank That *cough*) Anyway, this album is keeping it pure and true to Hip-Hop and is something to cherish. True Hip-Hop is underground and hard to come by these days, and this is a gem.

At first glance, the tracks are definitely pleasing to the ears, and it's true that I've wished in the past that I could find an extended instrumental of the "Runnin'" beat. That said, these interpretations of rap classics seem to have lost something in translation. Killer hooks, but it ends up sounding a little clean, like something that would play in Russell Simmons' elevator.


Enjoyable mix of electronic, hip hop, and jazz.
