Claire Lynch-Dear Sister

Claire Lynch's album, "Dear Sister" contains ten tracks that exasperates a sense of meaning and comfort that draws you in to her music. Her soft and pleasant tones are satisfying on all accounts. Songs such as, "That Kind of Love" and "Need Someone" reveal her ability to share her vulnerability with her audience and creates a strong connection between the listener and her music. Light hearted tracks such as "How Many Moons" and "I'll Be Alright Tomorrow" provides a catchy, memorable tune that are pleasant to listen to every time.

Dear Sister

Claire Lynch offers a whole new outlook on what the bluegrass genre is capable of. Rather than just narrating, she offers lyrical details, and she is clever passionate, careful and deep in every single aspect of her music. She combines these unique melodies rhythms, and instrumental parts, into a masterpiece that portrays her artist voice to a tee. Catchier songs on the album are "Doin Time," "I'll Be Alright Tomorrow," and "How Many Moons." In "Need Someone," the bass doesn't come in until the second chorus which allows for the listener to pay careful attention to the story and the lyrics. The title track "Dear Sister," tells a tale of longing for home and loved ones. If I had to choose, I would say that my favorite song on the album is "That Kind Of Love." This particular song describes what kind of love everybody is capable of, and it is a very powerful concept. Every single lyric on this album was carefully thought out, and there isn't one "filler" song or any lines that aren't necessary. Overall, I think this is one of the must-have bluegrass albums of this year.

With a high-pitched voice that's been compared to Nanci Griffith and Alison Krauss, Claire Lynch has successfully fused a background in popular music and a love of bluegrass. Born in Kingston, New York, Lynch moved with her family to Hazel Green, Alabama at the age of 12. Inspired by the pop songs of Joni Mitchell and the Beatles, Lynch sang as a youngster in an informal trio with her sisters, but it was as the singer for the bluegrass outfit the Front Porch String Band that finally brought Lynch...
