Album Review

Edwin McCain's second album, Misguided Roses, doesn't differ greatly from his debut. It has the same jangly, anthemic rock that made his music a favorite of such contemporaries as Hootie & the Blowfish, only with a slightly heftier electric kick. His songwriting and singing have improved and the best moments on Misguided Roses surpass those on Honor Among Thieves.

WARNING: "I'll BE" is CENSORED

WARNING:This is NOT THE ORIGINAL version of "I'll Be".It is EDITED.The line "love suicide" has been completely edited out of the song.

HORRIBLE!!!!

Censored "I'll Be"

I'm a huge EdHead, and have all his albums, obscure live tunes, and all of his collaborations. I lost my CD of Misguided Roses, so I bought it on iTunes. While listening to I'll Be, I noticed it has been censored! They took out every line when he sings "I'll be love's suicide" and replaced it with "I'll be with the trappings of love." It's an obvious and horribly done editing job. I love the album, but that's a terrible disappointment for his signature song. I'm not sure whether this is the work of iTunes, the record company, or Edwin, but it should have carried a label of censored so people could decide whether they wanted to purchase this non-original version.

I'll be is not Censored!!!!

I'll be is not censored listen to it over and over again i clearly hear him sing "love suicide".

A rootsy singer/songwriter with ties to jazz and soul as well, Edwin McCain hails from Charleston, South Carolina, and it was with the support of native sons Hootie & the Blowfish that McCain signed with Atlantic Records. Let it not be said that McCain never earned his contract: his touring schedule is among the most rigorous in music — 300-plus nights per year — and his dynamic band (guitarist Larry Chaney, bassist Scott Bannevich, drummer Dave Harrison, and saxophone player Craig...
