Beck meets Steely Dan

Kick back, have a drink, and chill. Ackerman weaves his way in and out of various genres--jazz, acid rock, electronica--but ultimately the dominant vibe here is one of sitting on a couch at an after hours joint, hitting on a hot chick without hitting on her, and knowing everything is going to turn out all right.

Notes from the artist

Tales Out of Night School is the third album of jazz/funk-infused indie music from New York native Dan Ackerman, a former radio DJ turned journalist. Mixing styles and influences from Gil Scott-Heron and Roy Ayers to Beck and Donald Fagen, the album moves between jazzy instrumentals and singer/songwriter territory with ease. Dan has written about music, games, nightlife and technology for more than 10 years, appearing in outlets including SPIN, Blender, USA Today, The Hollywood Reporter and CNET.

its like someone trying to copy someone famous - and failing. just my opinion

really let down by this, unfortunate, as I looked forward to the CD. it came across as someone doing a recreation of another person's album for me, sorry...
