Amazing Show; OKAY CD

I had the luxury of catching the last show in the US in Miami and was blown away. But this doesn't necessarily translate well to a "live" cd. First off, so much of the music in Re-Intention (as well as the recent Confessions Tour) is programmed or electronic so the organic element of "live" music is immediately gone. Secondly, while these tracks are deliberately picked to compliment the documentary, there are MUCH better songs that were performed that are more deserving to be here (the military themed "Express Yourself," the rockin' "Burning Up" and "Material Girl," the burlesque "Deeper and Deeper" just to name a few). I tend to listen to the first 3 tracks then skip to the last 4. That said though, it is nice to have what we're given. The re-inventions of "Vogue," "Nobody Knows Me," and especially "Holiday" are great to have, even if they exemplify the "programmed" sound of the tour. Allegedly the Confessions Tour is to be released on CD as well. Let's hope they get it right...

Who are they kidding!?

This is just more proof to those naysayers that Madonna is a great singer as well as dancer/performer. Madonna really is the queen.

Just in time for "CONFESSIONS LIVE"!!!

As we still await a DVD bow of Madonna's typically legendary 'The Re-Invention Tour', fans have been able to purchase the fantastic "I'm Going To Tell You a Secret" DVD/CD since she launched apex of her artistic output, "The Confessions Tour", last summer, but the digital incarnation is just now making its bow in time for the holidays. And for great reason: Madonna never sounded better, on record or on stage, than she did prior to this 2004 theatrical extravaganza. Unfortunately the CD omits half of the numbers from the full concert, but what is included here is utterly stunning all the same, and arguably "Like a Prayer", "Mother and Father", "Into the Groove", "American Life", and dare I say "Imagine" have all never sounded better than they do right here!! So don't miss out on the chance to add "Live Madonna" to your iTunes mix in preparation for the best-ever "Confessions Live From London" on NBC 11/22!!!

After stars reach a certain point, it's easy to forget what they became famous for and concentrate solely on their personas. Madonna is such a star. She rocketed to stardom so quickly in 1984 that it obscured most of her musical virtues. Appreciating her music became even more difficult as the decade wore on, as discussing her lifestyle became more common. However, one of Madonna's greatest achievements is how she has manipulated the media and the public with her music, her videos, her publicity,...
