Album Review

Collecting all three Temptations sets in Motown's digital download series into a 45-song sequence, this set is really pretty wonderful, featuring recordings from all of the Temptations's Motown phases, and it reveals again — not that it was much of a secret — what a singular and brilliant group they were, regardless of the lineup. Here we have the irresistible gospel-pop of "Get Ready" bumping up against the sweet regret of "I Wish It Would Rain" and the elegantly masterful "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone," and oh, everything in between is pretty good, too. It's the Temps. It's Motown. You can't go wrong.
