iTunes Editors’ Notes

10cc is in a rarified category of rock bands: those whose biggest hit is an anomaly within the group’s broader catalog. While the timelessly gauzy “I’m Not in Love” might not be complete uncharacteristic—though deceptively simple, its infinite layers of sound were part of 10cc’s long tradition of studio sorcery—it pegged 10cc as a soft rock band in the public's mind. Nothing could be further from the truth. 10cc was a cross between Queen and Frank Zappa: an art-damaged rock band for whom each moment of pure-pop bliss provided yet another opportunity for crafty experimentation. “Good Morning Judge,” “Art for Art’s Sake," and “Life Is a Minestrone” sound like they came from the mind of a hyperactive youth with a genius IQ. And while 10cc never quite returned to the ethereal plateau of “I’m Not in Love,” the underrated “From You and I” forms a nice bridge between the group’s accidental signature song and the rest of its unfairly overlooked (and highly entertaining) catalog.

Great Memories!

If I had to choose a song that takes me back to being a kid, that song would be "The Things We Do For Love!" It's such an awesomely happy song and my Mom used to let me dance on top of her feet when I was like 5, while we'd sing it-boy, I miss those days and her! "I'm Not in Love" is just such a brutally honest song that you can almost feel the pain of the person to whom it's being sung! "Dreadlock Holiday" is a fun song, if not for the fact that these pasty-white Brits are doing Reggae! If you've never heard 10cc before, check them out!

What is the volume of human... ?

Although the name of the band may be tongue-in-cheek, the music they created is anything but. This is one of the first albums I downloaded from iTunes - that says plenty.

Deriving their name from the metric total of semen ejaculated by the average male, the tongue-in-cheek British art-pop band 10cc comprised an all-star roster of Manchester-based musicians: vocalist/guitarist Graham Gouldman was a former member of the Mockingbirds and the author of hits for the Yardbirds, the Hollies, Herman's Hermits and Jeff Beck; singer/guitarist Eric Stewart was an alum of Wayne Fontana & the Mindbenders; and vocalists/multi-instrumentalists Kevin Godley and Lol Creme were...
