iTunes Review

Behind the shambolic splendor of a Red Hot Chili Peppers’ performance is a tightly coiled symbiosis of musicianship. The band grapples with themes of life and death on I’m With You, an album born from the ashes of a friend’s fatal overdose. Bringing a subtle style, Josh Klinghoffer has replaced John Frusciante as guitarist, but the band still retains its unmistakable Chili Pepper flavor. The totemic lead single, “The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie,” soars and bops with magnitude

A good album

RHCP in my opinion is a solid band. That said, I feel that every album has its strengths and weaknesses; I feel that this album stands in comparison with their other albums quite well, with a new twist in its sound that we will either embrace or reject, as always. There is a good balance of good ol' RHCP and new sounds. I don't think it's quite fair to idealize the exact songs/styles in past albums and not give this one serious consideration.

Not the same

Compared to any other album they've made, this is total garbage. The rhcp have gone from some of the worlds best musicians to just another average mainstream band. What's missing? John Frusciante, one of the best guitarists that ever lived. I'm really disappointed that they think its satisfactory to replace him with someone as bad as Josh Klinghoffer, he's an average guitarist at best and is not even remotely compable to John. You can tell the band relies on the singer bassist and drummer almost completely now and its just not the same.

Chill OuT!!!!!!!!

This album is unique in it's own way and simply reflects the emotions and style of the transcending Chili Peppers. This album does not necessarily replicate its predecessors but transcends in its own way which makes the Chili Peppers the Chili Peppers. Yes it is sad that Frusciante is nothing more than a memory however, Josh K holds his own. I have honestly been with them from the beginning and I truly appreciate this album. It is unique in its own right and I love 3/4 of the album as it has grown on me since I have listened to at least 5 times now. Rock on RHCP peace and love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Few rock groups of the '80s broke down as many musical barriers and were as original as the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Creating an intoxicating new musical style by combining funk and punk rock together (with an explosive stage show to boot), the Chili Peppers spawned a slew of imitators in their wake, but still managed to be the leaders of the pack by the dawn of the 21st century. The roots of the band lay in a friendship forged by three school chums, Anthony Kiedis, Michael Balzary, and Hillel Slovak,...
