WATCH OUT! These are not the original hits. Some are re-recordings by the original artists. Some are by other artists. Very, very disappointing!

yet another RIP OFF compilation!!!

I have been ripped off by these budget CD's in the past. Avoid them like the plague! Out of all these re-do's listed here, only "Chevy Van" by Sammy Johns; "In the Summertime" by Mungo Jerry; and "The Rapper" by the Jaggerz appear to be the original hit versions, but it's difficult to tell in a :30 iTunes sample. [iTunes has never been known to pick the "hook" of a song consistently for their samples]. Todd Rundgren's "Hello It's Me" may be the original Warner Bros/Bearsville recording, but remember, this was his cover of his old semi-hit when he was with The Nazz, so the hit was even a cover. Then we get into the Elton John covers. These were done when Elton was still known as Dwight and was working for one of these sleazy record companies who wanted to avoid the licensing fees for using the original hits and contracted EJ to re-record these songs. (there are 3 different re-packaged CD's of his early K-Smell compilations out there from this period of his career). These hits are out there in many different compilations, so I see no reason to cheapen the memories of these hits by having these awful re-recordings. Sure, the artists are probably getting a take of the profits on this CD, but why cheapen the experience because they got screwed by the record labels the first time around? Let them do oldies tours to make $$$ and leave the original memories for us to cherish. This really deserves 0 stars.

BEWARE! Re-Makes!! Non-Hit Versions!

Not original hit versions by the original Artists. This album should be avoided unless you can't find the hit versions anywhere else - or, you're just trying to learn the lyrics. Otherwise, it's NOT even worth the low price!!
