10 Songs, 39 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

Imagine features more lavish production than Lennon's minimalistic solo debut, but its emotions are just as hard-hitting. The title track's canny blend of iconoclasm and utopianism is set to one of his most heartrending melodies, but its neighbors are equally impressive. Lennon's rejection of political tricksters on the stomping, growling "Gimme Some Truth" is invigorated by George Harrison's signature slide licks. The notorious "How Do You Sleep?"—set to ominous strings and jagged guitars—remains one of the most scathing excoriations ever waxed.

Imagine... It's Simple, If You Try

Never has there been such a meaningful album @ such a chaotic time; The Vietnamn War was out of control, Civil Rights were boiling over from decades of oppression, Women's Rights were screaming for Equality, Politicians were being found guilty of coruption 9for the first time in the USA), Students were rioting,a s were others. & soon, we'd lose three key men to sensless assasinations.... on top of that, The Beatles had broken up & were @ each other's throats as the world screamed 'No Tell Me It's Not So!' Imagine, the song of it's day & album of a lifetime was as powerful 'yesterday' as it is today. Anything short of five stars would be someone who doesn't have a clue wha this album meant & means. By the iTunes review, I'd say 'dude, wake up!' John wrote many more grerat songs & until his dying day, his legend grew with every lyric he sang & every peaceful plea he made... His human qulaities made him the superstar he was & eventually got him assassinated.... True enough though, Imagine was & is a great album. Listen & enjoy. & Thank you for remastering it in 2010. It doesn't get much better than that.
