Bringing the fabulous back

Carpenter, the Elton John of the organ, attempts to make amends of his disasterous debut by playing actual organ music. His choice of playing Bach was a poor choice to make. He seems capable of playing most of the notes but he muddles the voices and the recording itself sounds over-modulated. Carpenter is a clssic case of style over substance but he doesn't have the advantage of being a fetching young gal to get away with it. His self composed homages to Bach are the stuff of nightmares. I too have composed such pieces in my youth by sitting on the keys. After subjecting yourself to his Bach you fall on your knees and pray he doesn't attempt to record any Messian. Dear heavens please do yourself a favor and pass over this! -Bz

Absolutely amazing!

I was happy to see the review from Boolez below. If Cameron received a warm response from the organ establishment, I would be worried. This latest album is yet another testament to Cameron Carpenter's genius. We are incredibly lucky to have such a brave and innovative artist in our midst. I find it difficult to listen to pieces by other organists after Cameron has put his unique stamp on it. This performance of Bach and Cameron's own compositions are spellbinding. I urge everyone, classical music lovers or not, organ elite or not, to listen to this. Bravo Cameron!

I don't like the sound -

The sound of the organ is as if it's being played in the next room! Bad Microphone positioning. This isn't a recording taken from a tape done live in the early 90's from a damaged master, it's a modern recording - should sound better!!
