iTunes Review

An extensive supergroup with a constantly changing lineup, Army of the Pharoahs first appeared in 1998, founded by Jedi Mind Tricks frontman Vinnie Paz. Sixteen years later, they're still going strong, putting out unapologetically hardcore hip-hop that fuses global conspiracy theories, shameless trash-talking, and hyper-violent threats, all with an undercurrent of subtle humor and intricately layered wordplay. In Death Reborn features a few new members (Houston's Zilla and Blacastan from Connecticut), alongside the usual suspects Paz, Celph Titled, Apathy, and Esoteric, plus some seriously thugged-out, brawl-worthy beats from the likes of Stu Bangas, Vanderslice, and Paul Nice. It's arguably one of their best efforts and another strong showing from Philly's grimiest crew.
