Album Review

A return to the trashy, bubblegum-rock style of early Blondie, featuring the hit "French Kissin'."

Again, the review here stinks. This was very much in the vein of Koo Koo and her earlier work. Just as Parallel Lines differed from AutoAmerican, so too did Rock Bird differ from Koo Koo. But the overall theme of Harry rockng out to guitar, horns, and beats, with samples and R&B mixing was present in both solo albums. Also a great album, this one is not quite as good as Koo Koo, but features notorious classics such as French Kissin ... -hellrat

Its Different

The album is a good album but you have to be open to the fact that it does not sound like blondie i mean debbie harrys voice is unmistakeable but its not blondie but its worth a listen.

Not my favorite Debbie Harry solo effort, but it works.

One thing I've always hated is when critics and fans give solo projects the boot because it doesn't sound anything like the band the person is from. For example Debbie Harry of Blondie. News flash folks: that's why it's called a "solo" project. So the artist can NOT sound like their counterpart. They can branch out and experiment with other sounds and styles and types of music. If I want a Blondie album, I'll buy one. Although I have them all as well as Debbie's 4 solo albums. In my opinion, KooKoo is by far, the best Debbie Harry solo project to date. And guess what? The album (KooKoo) doesn't sound like Blondie!

As the face and sound behind one of new wave's most influential bands to emerge during the punk heyday of the '70s, Debbie Harry was the ultimate diva. She was the Blondie frontwoman, a vixen with hypnotically wild stage moves and an edgy cool voice. A killer sneer matched her signature blonde mop and made her a star. Born in the summer of 1945 in Miami, Debbie Harry was adopted and raised by Richard and Catherine Harry in suburban New Jersey. She spent most of her young adult life working various...
