EDITORS’ NOTES

Led by rock’s most talked-about new frontwoman, this NY band arrive in style. Chrissy Constanza’s undoubtedly the main event here—she’s a charismatic and very likable performer—but the band’s debut album’s tracks easily hold up against the buzz built ahead of their release. The songs traverse capably between two fairly definable settings: boisterous, inflamed pop-punk (“Running with the Wild Things”, “One More Weekend”, “Blood Like Gasoline”) and pretty, cascading electronic pop ballads (“In Our Bones”, “Brighter”, “Demons”). Both settings are unified by a spirit of empowerment that should underline their appeal.

Loving this track. I'm sure the rest of the album is going to be fire. I will always support ATC!

The Era of The Current

IICSKDII

From "Thinking" to "Guessing" to "Infinity" and "Gravity", comes the beginning of the era of Against The Current. "Running With The Wild Things" was a single that brought out Chrissy Costanza's vocal power and range, as well as Daniel Gow and Will Ferri's perfectly mixed sound with Gow's riffs completely blowing my mind, as does Ferri with his upbeat drumming. On the other hand, "Runaway" is a song that brings back an element of the "Infinity EP" but brings something more fresh, unique, and completely new to the table. Definitely worth checking out! Can't wait until May 20th!

About Against The Current

Against the Current are a pop-punk band that formed in Poughkeepsie, New York in 2011. Led by singer Chrissy Costanza, guitarist/singer Dan Gow, and drummer Will Ferri, they initially built up a large following on YouTube covering songs like Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen's "Good Time" and Kelly Clarkson's "Catch My Breath." Their own debut single, "Thinking," arrived in July 2012, followed a year later by "Closer, Faster," the latter of which also appeared on their debut EP Infinity in 2014. Powered by catchy, upbeat melodies and Costanza's strong voice, Against the Current's sound fell more on the pop side of the spectrum. After an all-acoustic EP, they delivered their third EP, Gravity, in 2015 and caught the attention of respected indie Fueled by Ramen Records. With a new label deal in place, they began issuing singles in early 2016 in anticipation of their full-length debut, In Our Bones, which arrived in May of that year. ~ Timothy Monger
