iTunes Review

Led by rock’s most talked-about new frontwoman, this NY band arrive in style. Chrissy Constanza’s undoubtedly the main event here—she’s a charismatic and very likable performer—but the band’s debut album’s tracks easily hold up against the buzz built ahead of their release. The songs traverse capably between two fairly definable settings: boisterous, inflamed pop-punk (“Running with the Wild Things”, “One More Weekend”, “Blood Like Gasoline”) and pretty, cascading electronic pop ballads (“In Our Bones”, “Brighter”, “Demons”). Both settings are unified by a spirit of empowerment that should underline their appeal.

Loving this track. I'm sure the rest of the album is going to be fire. I will always support ATC!

Runaway is amazing, Running With The Wild Things is astounding, so this album will be wondrous!

Just Excellent

I knew to expect greatness from Against the Current's album, but they have blown me away merely with the diversity of their songs and the mastery with which they execute them. They truly prove that they cannot be grouped in one category. Wasteland takes on a more electric feel, showcasing Dan Gow's skill on guitars. Running With The Wild Things is an upbeat song featuring Will Ferri's drumming that makes you just want to declare your independence and celebrate your individuality. In Our Bones lets us hear lead singer Chrissy Costanza's voice in a different outlet than rocking out and shows just how versatile it can be. It's not just the skill of the musicians though; it's the complexity of the songs and the lyrics, something that is hard to find in mainstream music nowadays. Yet Against the Current makes it work flawlessly and naturally. I can't wait to see where this album takes them.
