EDITORS’ NOTES

The Seattle two-piece Odesza join a long line of electronic music duos that includes Boards of Canada, Orbital, and more recently Disclosure. Informed by the cinematic chillwave and breakbeat fireworks of modern acts like Washed Out, Tycho, and Pretty Lights, In Return is the pair's second album. "Say My Name" exemplifies Odesza's sound: featuring both filtered and clean vocals from Zyra, the booming midtempo track is a meteor shower of clipped chirps, skittering drums, and majestic synths. "Kusangi" is a gorgeous instrumental that mixes chimes and dulcet melodies into its blooming textures, while "Memories That You Call Home" is cinematically soaring à la M83. This is playfully moving electro-pop that's perfect for your next impromptu Sunday-afternoon dance party.

Perfect Album at the Perfect Time!

JoshKimming,

This album came to me at a great time. As school began, my stress level rose. This album is the perfect escape from reality and presents to you an electric vibe that in a sense “frees” you. Quite nice. Great Album and a great solid start for ODESZA!

Finally an album in iTunes!

ElectronicGroove,

I’ve been a fan for awhile now and if the first two singles off this album are any indication — this album is gonna be HUGE! Can’t wait!!

About ODESZA

Adding a heavier beat but keeping the "dreamy" side of indie electronica intact, Seattle duo ODESZA formed in 2012 just before they graduated from Western Washington University. Members Harrison Mills (aka Catacombkid) and Clayton Knight (aka Beaches Beaches) had known each other since they were freshman at the college, but ODESZA didn't form until their senior year. After graduation, things began to move quickly as 2012 saw the release of their debut album, Summer's Gone. The year 2013 saw both an EP, My Friends Never Die, plus a tour with, and a remix for, Pretty Lights. A year later they released In Return, an LP from the Counter Records label that topped various online retailers' electronic album charts. ODESZA toured North America in support of their album, and sold out 28 shows, in addition to performing at over 20 festivals. In 2015, the duo launched Foreign Family Collective in order to give exposure to up-and-coming musicians and graphic artists. A deluxe edition of In Return, including Little Dragon collaboration "Light" as well as live tracks and instrumentals, appeared later in the year. "Late Night" and "Line of Sight," the first two singles from ODESZA's third studio album, were released in April of 2017. ~ David Jeffries
